There were two major milestones in 1979 for Hank Baker. His beloved University of Alabama won the National Football Championship, and his proudest achievement yet - the opening of his first restaurant Alabama Wings.
As the decade moved into big music, big movies and big hairstyles, Hank opened up a modest wing joint in the heart of town, showcasing recipes handed down to him by his grandmother Missy Eileen. Football fans rushed to get wings after a big game and Alabama Wings became an institution to the townsfolk.
Today, Alabama Wings has thrown a hail-Mary pass and touched down in Australia where the land down under can enjoy the best wings to come out of the deep south.
